In the early 2000s, the rise of enterprise virtualization fundamentally changed how businesses handled infrastructure. It quickly became an era where seemingly every workload, regardless of its specific requirements, was routed to run on VMware. While a one-size-fits-all approach was rarely optimal for every unique operational scenario, it worked well enough to become the industry default for nearly two decades.
That paradigm shifted permanently following major industry acquisitions, which resulted in soaring licensing costs and confusing licensing strategies. For enterprise IT leaders, it became immediately obvious that relying on a single hyper-generalized platform to manage entire, diverse environments was no longer operationally or financially viable. This turning point is where the vision for KalaStack was formed.

To deliver on this vision, we split our core infrastructure focus into two distinct platforms. For the distributed retail edge, Tekkio delivers deployment simplicity and massive scale, offering pre-configured managed workloads to solve common edge-specific challenges out of the box. For the more traditional datacenter and colos, AnchorVM provides a virtualization platform built from the ground up for deep automation, advanced scripting, and predictable performance.
Supporting these core platforms is a unified ecosystem engineered to streamline operations from bare metal to application layer. KalaStack develops AnchorLinux, our own immutable, single-purpose operating system, alongside AnchorPT, a powerful provisioning tool built to automate large-scale hardware deployments. Together, our modular stack gives enterprise IT teams the exact tools they need for their specific environment, without the weight or cost of legacy platforms.
